The Friends of the Page-Walker cannot realize our preservation mission without the help of a number of partner organizations.


Town of Cary Cultural Resources Division

The Cultural Resources Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of historic buildings owned by the Town of Cary, most notably the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. The Town also owns the Bartley Farm, old Cary Elementary School, the Waldo House, and the A. M. Howard Farm. The Friends of the Page-Walker have a permanent seat on the on the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee. 





Town of Cary Planning Department

The Planning Department is responsible for protection of historic resources within the Cary planning jurisdiction, either through ordinance or by acquisition. They are in the process of developing a comprehensive historic resources plan. The planning department evaluates development projects for their effect on existing historic buildings, in some cases requiring plan modifications to reduce the impact on them.


Capital Area Preservation

 CAP.jpg CAP is a county-wide non-profit historic preservation organization. They assure the perpetual protection of many buildings by serving as the holder of preservation easements. They act as preservation consultants to local government (including Cary) and serve as the professional staff for the Wake County Historic Preservation Commission.  CAP recognizes significant accomplishments in local preservation with their annual Anthemion Awards. 


Wake County Historic Preservation Commission

 countylogo.jpg The Commission was established by Wake County in 1992 and serves most of the municipalities of the County through interlocal agreement. The commission maintains the Wake County historic survey and historic resources database. They recommend properties for designation as historic landmarks and initiate National Register nominations. The commission works to ensure that historic resources are recognized in county and municipal plans.


NC State Historic Preservation Office

 shpo.gif SHPO assists private citizens, private institutions, local governments, and agencies of state and federal government in the identification, evaluation, protection, and enhancement of properties significant in North Carolina history and archaeology. The agency carries out state and federal preservation programs and is a component of the Office of Archives and History, North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.


Preservation North Carolina

 pnc.jpg Founded in 1939, Preservation North Carolina is North Carolina's only private non-profit statewide historic preservation organization. Its mission is to protect and promote buildings, landscapes and sites important to the diverse heritage of North Carolina. Preservation NC acquires endangered historic properties and then finds purchasers willing and able to rehabilitate them.
