FRIENDS RECEIVE 2022 ALBERT RAY NEWSOME AWARDThe Friends are honored to have received the Federation of NC Historical Societies Albert Ray Newsome Award for excellence in local history for their work with members of Cary First Christian Church to develop a walking tour brochure of the church's historic cemetery on W. Cornwall Rd. |
The Friends are proud to sponsor the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). We are a Certifying Organization for this award, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period. Our current service year runs from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
Volunteer service that supports the Friends' mission is the underlying intent of this award. A variety of volunteer service hours qualify, from tending to the educational herb garden to helping plan and carry out events to caring for a historic cemetery. All activities must be unpaid and for the larger community.
